Crosby Farm Regional Park

Great sketch outing with Urban Sketchers Twin Cities at Crosby Farm Regional Park in Saint Paul. The park rangers were welcoming and led the group to guided hikes through the park trails.

I really like this park. This is the first time I’ve been despite living in Minnesota for more than 20 years. The park is a flood plain which I was told gets really flooded during heavy rain seasons like this year. But I like that I can easily access the Mississippi river without having to hike downhill.

After the short guided hike – I settled on sketching the Mississippi with an interesting overhanging tree in the foreground.

I kind of ran out of time on this sketch so wasn’t able to do my watercolors on it.

I think it turned out well without the color. I was glad I was able to focus on the inking and crosshatching part of the drawing.

I decided to try using Procreate on it when I got home and I think it turned out alright.

Wonderful group, perfect weather. It was a good day today.
